The Red Door

The Red Door is my career dream, fulfilled. It’s a hybrid between a church a nightclub…my two favorite places in the world.

As an ordained holistic minister, I wanted to create a church for all faiths and belief systems that was founded on a universal language—music. The 90-minute service starts with a message about cutting edge spiritual teachings, transitions into guided movement and dance, and finally, wraps up with a 15-minute meditation led by a guest presenter. At The Red Door, the congregation has been able to sample numerous meditation practices, learn an empowering lesson to kick-off their week, and also release tension and get back into their bodies.

The church was founded in Denver, Colorado in October 2008 and grew from 20 people to 700 members in less than 6 months. Shortly after, I moved to the beach town of Wilmington, North Carolina to start a second church, which is now setting up shop in downtown Wilmington on the Cape Fear River.

If there are 6 billion people on the planet,
then there are at least 6 billion possible ways to communicate with your Creator.
And six billion ways to move your body.

To quote the lyrics of one of my favorite “house” electronic songs….”God is my DJ and Music is my Religion”.
