Most of my clients come to me to figure out what they want to be when they grow up–assuming there is a single, magical answer to that question. I won’t B.S. you–there is no single answer and, frankly there shouldn’t be. You don’t want to be pigeon-holed that way.

If you’re interested in hiring a psychic to look into your future and tell you what your ideal career is, I’m not that gal. Though I do have very nifty gifts of intuition and clairvoyance, so do you. My job is to help you open your eyes to your own visions in the proverbial crystal ball.

What my clients soon discover is that a great career has less to do with finding that one, perfect job…and more to do with giving yourself permission to take a journey–as schmaltzy as that sounds. On that journey you can discover the work you love so much you’d do it even if you didn’t get paid–no kidding.  You know what I’m talking about….the work you lose yourself in, the work you can get so engrossed in that 3 hours can pass before you realize you forgot to stop for lunch.  I won’t promise that there’s a job description on Craig’s List for your favorite passion, but I will promise that when you match your passion with an attitude to serve your community, an opportunity to be of service (and get paid) will be there.

If you hate your job, then quit. You’re denying someone else the opportunity to work who would love your job. And you’re denying your own right to enjoy your life. Quit being a martyr by staying in a job that’s suffocating the soul right out of you.

If you’re scared of boxing yourself in to just one job description, then don’t. You can have more than one dream job. The average person in America today goes through 7 major career changes. In today’s information age, we can learn new trades and expand our skills with incredible speed.

Dare yourself to believe that following your bliss can pay the bills. Basic fundamental laws of metaphysics say that you attract what you think about. If you think your job sucks you’ll just attract more suckiness in your job. If you think your passions can yield cash, that’s exactly what the Universe has to give you.  Today’s economy requires that we build some faith. Pick up a copy of Fast Company or Wired magazine and you’ll soon realize that all the cool rich kids got there by taking a risk with their passions. Who wants to go to their grave saying “If only…”

And finally, trust me. After coaching hundreds of people to kick doubt in the ass and come out on top, I can safely say I know what I’m talking about.   Truth or Dare?  Let’s do both!     eryn@eryndefoort.com    910-262-0920
